CvI Contaminated Fuel Detectors - are furnished in two models as listed below. Both are portable instruments operating on 110-120 VAC, 60 Hz power and used primarily to determine the quantity of solid contaminants in aircraft fuels such as Grade JP-5. The detectors can process a sample in 3-4 minutes on-site.
Model 390/Mil-D-22612 (AS) Type II - This unit measures the level of contamination by comparing the amount of light transmitted through a filter paper exposed to contaminated fuel with the amount of light transmitted through a filter paper wetted with only clean fuel. The amount of light is indicated on an electronic display and the contamination level is evaluated by a calibration chart provided with each unit.
Model 390R/Mil-D-22612 (AS) Type III - This is a Combined Contaminated Fuel Detector (CCFD) which incorporates a Free Water Detector (meeting requirements of Mil-D-812227B) in addition to the detection of solid particulate.
Both models are constructed of replaceable modules which permit repair in the field without need for technical specialists and available as spares
