The Nitrogen Generator Air Separation Membrane separates nitrogen gas from the other gaseous constituents of air; principally oxygen which is 20.9% of the atmosphere, the balance being nitrogen and very small amounts of other gases.
For purposes of measuring the percentage of nitrogen in a generator gas sample, the percentage of nitrogen includes the trace quantities of other inert gases such as neon, argon and helium.
Nitrogen purity is expressed as the difference between the percentage of O2 as measured and 100% as shown below:
